Water Is Not Enough Part 1 - Mark 1:1-8 Post 8

Water.  I need water.  Water quenches my thirst.  Washes me - my skin and hair feel clean after water. Water sustains me.  Without it there would be no food, neither vegetables or dairy products or grains or meats.  Without water, I would die.

John baptizes with water (Mark 1:8) - a beautiful visual and physical experience expressing a deeper reality.

I'm going to die, even with an abundance of water.  Not today, not tomorrow, maybe.  But I am doomed, all the same.  My sentence has been pronounced, and will be carried out one day, and no amount of water can change that.

Water is so necessary.  But water is not enough. And John's baptism cannot save me.

John prepares the way for what I really need. (Mark 1:1-8)

Jesus.

What I need is You.

I need You to live.  Like water, I need You anew every day.  I need to keep drinking, and to drink deeply.  And there is always enough of You for me.
